Our Story
A family story, across two shores.
Oakvale Collection began in 2021, with the Ekdahl family’s wish to share the places they call home. The vineyards and mountains of Franschhoek and the coastline of Åhus connect two countries through one family’s hospitality.
Henrik Persson Ekdahl and Matilda Ekdahl first met as teenagers in Åhus. Over the years, they often walked past a much-loved old house near the beach, imagining what it might be like to call it their own. When that possibility became real, the house became their Swedish home, keeping them close to the place where their story began. That personal connection remains at the heart of Oakvale: homes shaped by family life and the simple pleasure of being together. Opening them to guests is an invitation to make memories of your own.
A Swedish home with a history
Built in 1916 in Sweden’s National Romantic style, Villa Sand brings its green timber façade and red tiled roof to the Åhus shore. The main house and guest cottage sit beside a garden and pool, with the sea just beyond. It is a place where the family’s Swedish roots remain part of everyday life.

Life on the Franschhoek land
Twenty hectares of vineyards, olive groves, mature oaks and horse paddocks surround Oakvale Estate. Paths lead between the gardens and stables, while the mountains frame the two guest villas. The wines and olive oils come from this same landscape, connecting the homes to the working life of the farm.
